The UX task: Based on the existing application -- which had already begun the coding process -- I was tasked with fixing and improving the user experience of a warehouse management system.
The problem to solve: The application needed to be so easy to use that a warehouse worker could simply walk up to a mounted tablet, login and input information to start or finish work. The application was currently very difficult to learn, and these workers were mostly non-savvy computer users.
My solution: My take on the situation, after interviews and analyzing the current system in place, was to make this app feel and work like abank ATM kiosk.
Based on the idea that almost everyone uses a bank ATM, I researched several of them, and used that data as the basis for my design flow. This allowed for my design to be completely self-explanatory to the user, even if it was their first time ever logging in to the application.
